PINE WILT
Pine Wilt is the latest and most deadly problem facing pine trees in eastern Nebraska. Pine wilt started in Missouri and Kansas and has worked Northward into Nebraska. The first confirmed cases of pine wilt in the Omaha area occurred in 2003. Since that time, we have confirmed cases in Papillion, Louisvile, Mead, Ralston, and inside the Omaha city limits. Hundreds of Scotch pines have died in the past few years due to this problem. Recently research of an injectable product has showed promise in combatting Pine Wilt. By the fall of 2006 there will be at least 2 injection products for preventing Pine Wilt and we will make them available to our customers.
